Everyone carries a part of society on his shoulders; no one is relieved of his share of responsibility by others. And no one can find a safe way out for himself if society is sweeping toward destruction. Therefore, everyone, in his own interests, must thrust himself vigorously into the intellectual battle. None can stand aside with unconcern; the interest of everyone hangs on the result. Whether he chooses or not, every man is drawn into the great historical struggle, the decisive battle into which our epoch has plunged us. Ludwig von Mises
About Us

YOUTH ESSAY CONTEST:
Center for Sound Economic Education (C-SEE) was founded by Ken Van Doren recently, and soon joined by other board members. Ken is a retired building contractor and tool salesman.
Ken explains his motivation: "When I was younger, I had a lot of faith in government. However, my experiences in running my business, and in particular my experiences doing work for state, federal and local governments led me to realize that the world did not work as I had been taught. Then once I discovered the Austrian School of Economics, I recognized that my economic education in particular left something to be desired. It is my hope that through C-SEE, through our programs and materials we can help others better understand the economic workings of the world around them. In particular, we want to focus a considerable amount of energy on our young people. To that end, one of our early projects will be our Youth Essay Contest. Please check it out:
The essay contest inspired me to explore free market ideas and engage with economics more deeply.
